Minnesota Comprehensive Assessments (MCA) - Series II & Series III
The Minnesota Comprehensive Assessments—Series II (MCA-IIs) are reading and mathematics tests that help schools and districts measure student progress toward state academic standards. In 2006-07, these tests were given in grades 3-8, 10 and 11 in reading and mathematics. In 2008, a science portion was added for grades 5 and 8, and once in high school after the completion of the life sciences curriculum.
In 2011, students in grades 3-8 took the Math MCA-III, which are new, more rigorous math assessments aligned to higher standards. (Grade 11 students continued to take the MCA-II). These new/higher standards are designed to prepare all students to be career and college ready.
